Sporty's E6B Flight Computer App Reviews

As a student pilot, this app considerably cuts down on planning for a trip. It instantly gives you the wind correction angle, ground speed, and the times enroute. Love it!

Easy to use and my examiner allowed me use it on my checkride!

Seems nice. Good interface. If you are playing with the Mach number function, the temperature requested is indicated air temperature, which is the total or stagnation temperature, not outside air temperature. GIGO.

Great app, works well. I like the timer and calculator function too. Only reason why I gave it 4 stars is there is a disclaimer on it that says "not to be used for navigation". Whats up with that? Why else would we use it?

Its the easiest and best e6b Ive ever used. Plus its the fraction of the cost of any other electronic flight computer. The only problem is that you are not allowed to use it for the FAA knowledge tests.

Does what it says. Should be a 5 dollar app.

It should have an option to prevent the auto-lock feature from kicking in, like in ForeFlight. Its just not a smart design to have the timer feature, which doesnt involve screen interaction, allowing the screen to go blank. Fix that and Ill adjust my rating.

Do not wast your money on this app. It has no help page and I have still not figured our how to do a weight & balance. Buy a hand held E6B. It is much better than this one. It is pretty useless to me. I want my money back!!!

Nice App. Only things I would like to see would be an "enter" and "Conv" button on the keypad like on the electronic E6B. Weight and balance entry needs reworked. Is a hassle to enter the way it is set up now. Would also be nice to have a conversion button and pop up window to convert any window or result without having to re-enter in the conversion side of the app. Would also like to have the same screen view in landscape or portrait.

Very easy to input the wrong data due to not clear and cumbersome input method. Found a couple of $0.99 apps that are MUCH better. For those used to the old electronic calculator style it is good, but this is iOS, Sportys can do much better!

The setting of the initial value on the countdown timer has some problems… the picker doesnt respond to scrolling properly. Also, when you reset the countdown timer, instead of resetting to the initial value (as for timing an approach), it uselessly resets to zero. The keypad seems slow to respond to taps, unlike the built-in Apple keypad. There is no audible feedback.

Need iPhone 5 support!

Use native keyboard to input numbers instead of the stupid sportys custom keypad. Interface needs to be way cleaner, ugly as hell. Functionally, it works ok if you pop a few Xanax.

When are they going to have an iPhone 5 update. Also weight and balance for multiple aircraft! Every time I fly a new aircraft I need to re-enter the weight and balance data. Also need iCloud support so any time I update my phone I do not nee to start from scratch.

Just downloaded that last night. Student pilot whos doing his xcs. really came in great during the flight planning AND in the plane during the approaches. I needed to recalculate the crosswinds quickly (was on downwind) since the winds were shifting and I have 7 Kt x-wind limit. Entered a few numbers and was able to request another runway just in time :-). I havent had a change to explore all if the other functions, but so far, Id recommend it!

The layout does not utilize all the screen real estate. Many of the buttons could be made bigger for easier access. Also, the regular calculator function should be larger. This would help with hitting the correct button. The functions work great, but it is very difficult to use.

Very professional. Its now a "must have" app.

One of the other reviews stated that you cant add additional rows/arms in the weight and balance calculator -- that is not correct. Just under the the Baggage 2 row is a large Add New Station button, which allows you to add as many rows or additional locations as youd like. The Edit button at the top right of the screen then allows you to change the description of the location to whatever youd like.

Problem! New version does not save aircraft profile for weight and balance! Please fix asap
